I’m writing this from my couch, cozied up in my fluffiest blanket, with a heating pad strapped to my stomach and a half-empty mug of bone broth next to me. Glamorous? Not exactly. But real? Absolutely.
Last week, I went in for a planned abdominal surgery—and came out appendix-free and minus six uterine fibroids. Yep, SIX! Apparently, my uterus was hosting a little fibroid party.
Recovery has been… a journey. I mean, how often do you get abdominal surgery on two organs at once? (10/10 wouldn’t recommend, but I am grateful to have it all sorted now.) I have 4 incisions throughout my belly. Hard to sit up and get out of bed. I imagine a C-section is so hard after this much more minor procedure.
So today, I wanted to do a quick post-op check-in and share what’s been truly saving me during this healing phase. Because when you’re laid up on the couch, the right cozy, comfy essentials make all the difference.
💖 The Cozy Healing MVPs
1. Comfiest Lounge Set Ever
A soft, high-waisted lounge set has been my go-to for living on the couch without feeling like a total blob. The high waist is key—it doesn’t dig into the incision areas and still keeps everything supported. Plus, it’s pink!

2. The Holy Grail Heating Pad
Post-op cramps, back pain, and general discomfort? Heating pads are the real MVP. I’ve been rotating between a large body pad and a smaller, microwavable one for extra flexibility.

3. Cloud-Like Slippers
Walking around post-surgery is necessary (hi, circulation), but my feet demanded extra cushioning. These plush slippers make each slow shuffle to the kitchen feel like a spa moment.

4. Hydration Station
Staying hydrated is crucial, but bending over to grab a glass? Not fun. This giant, straw-equipped water bottle is my best friend right now. Plus, I’ve been adding electrolytes for extra support. These ones are pre-campaign launch but my god they are tasty. They help me absorb nutrients and are only 10 cals per serving, plus less sodium than other electrolytes so no water retention, woohoo!

5. Skin Support
My skin is so dry. It needs moisture, so I found it some. Smelling good and feeling hydrated post surgery is so important for my mental health.

6. The Pillow Situation
Propping yourself up just right is an art form post-abdominal surgery. I created a cozy throne of supportive pillows—plus a body pillow to hug while I nap. (Don’t sleep on the power of good pillow support. Literally.)

💡 What I’m Learning Post-Op
This experience has been a real reminder that our bodies demand care and attention—especially when they’ve been through trauma. I’m slowing down, listening more, and letting myself heal without the guilt of “being productive.”
Also, can we normalize talking more openly about uterine health? I had no idea I was carrying around SIX fibroids until this surgery. It makes me even more passionate about advocating for better women’s health education and care.
